43 Matthew Ebel Rising
New-media musicological phenomenon Matthew Ebel is still getting settled in his new home in Wellesley, Massachusetts, after his recent move from Nashville. I visited with him (and a resident cat, Murphy) yesterday afternoon. Matthew talked about what's up for his next album, his creative process, how a junior high school teacher set him on the path of combining his geek passion with his musical ability, and how podcasting enabled him to find his audience. All in all, it was a great chance to look behind the music of the singer-songwriter who has been called an acoustic geek-rocker and the love child of Elton John and Billy Joel.
Music for this episode is "The Getaway" from Matthew's latest album, "Goodbye Planet Earth."

Terrific, fascinating podcast. It was particularly interesting to me after listening just a couple of days ago to the Feb. 25 TWIT (This Week in Tech) podcast, which features Jonathan Coulton and and a discussion of niche broadcasting. (http://twit.tv/133) The two podcasts really reinforced each other.
