33 East Meets Western Mass.: The Art of Q Li Holmes

Last weekend we drove to Ashfield, Massachusetts, for an open studio by Q Li Holmes, the wife of my oldest friend, William, who's been my pal since second grade. Q's parents and grandfather in China were fine calligraphers, and she studied traditional Chinese art in China and Japan. Now living in western Massachusetts with William and their daughter Tao Tao, she combines Western influences with her Chinese roots for a unique blend of cultures and sensibilities. She spoke about her latest series of watercolor canvas paintings and talked about how art grows within us.
